50-year-old woman suffered brain death in the hospital Bourgas became a donor of three. The woman was plunged into brain death on November 1st, due to a brain haemorrhage. All three transplants have been performed in the University Hospital "Lozenets" - a liver and two kidneys, and the patients are in good postoperative condition.
Since August so far this is the third case in which relatives of the patient suffered brain death in the hospital - Bourgas give their consent to donate organs for transplantation.
The number of potential donor situations, however, is much more - a total of 20, 17 number of them were not implemented because of the refusal of the relatives.
