Bourgas dropped out of the race for the European Capital of Culture because “a few new ideas and lack of European sweep of artistic imagination”.
This is clear from the jury 's recommendations in the report of this preliminary selection, published yesterday. Representatives of the seven cities - candidates submitted their programs to the 13 -member international jury on 11,12 and 13 December.
Finalists are Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo.
Here's assessment that received Bourgas: "The European dimension of the program was less developed than expected. Budget (7.5 mnl . Euro ) was relatively low for this stage".
