Significant drop in the number of tourists from western countries reported the Bourgas Regional Tourist Association (BRTK) during the summer.

The reasons for the low attendance of western tourists are numerous. Quality of the tourists package, nighttime peace and quiet, theft, prostitution, insecurity and black PR of Bulgaria in the EU are among the shortcomings of the Bulgarian tourism.

"These tourists are looking for a product with high quality. Here to meet this requirements are only the new hotels 4-5 stars. Almost of all other products are not competitive ", said Ivan Ivanov, BRTK.

According to Bogdan Hristov, a member of the Board of the Chamber of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism must carry out many reforms to avoid future higher declines of tourists from these countries.

For the summer season Bulgaria was visited by 1,242,529 tourists and achieve 2% growth compared to the same period of 2013. The most frequent visitors in the summer were from Belarus, Poland, Austria, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Hungary and Israel .
