The first bloodless operations on patients with colon cancer are already happening in Bourgas hospital.
When so called colorectal laparoscopic the surgery operator works on the colon only in a few small holes in the abdomen. Actions are guided by the video monitor with high magnification. This gives significant advantages over the traditional "open" surgery - the tumor is removed accurately, there see and metastasis of surrounding tissues and the recovery is days instead of months.
Bloodless minimal invasive colorectal surgery has been introduced under the guidance of Prof. Daniel Kostov, methodical leader of second surgery in Bourgas hospital. Prof. Kostov is Head of Department and Department of Surgery Hospital in Varna at the Military Medical Academy - Sofia. They were bought by the Ministry of Health on a project for early diagnosis of cancer. By this project is pending delivery and additional equipment to laparoscopic surgical, urological and gynecological wards of Bourgas hospital.
