A new type of treatment - platelet-rich plasma already successfully applied in the Division of Rheumatology at Hospital Bourgas.
Implementation of this substance is known more as a beauty therapy (named a vampire facelift ), but it has significant applications in medical therapy in this as totally harmless method, explained Dr. Ivan Kazmin, Head of the Division of Rheumatology at Hospital Bourgas.
With the application of the enriched with platelets plasma in the affected area of the body are released natural growth factors. To prepare it they are using own patient's blood, which is centrifuged in special centrifuges. This achieves increased concentration per unit volume of blood platelets - the cells which are responsible for the clotting of blood, but also synthesize growth factors. Platelet-rich plasma is injected into the affected areas and thus the biological processes of recovery happen faster and without side effects.
Treatment with enriched with platelets plasma is applied in trauma, after operations, in damage to the joints and periarticular structures, in disorders group arrester - for example, by athletes and physical workers and people in the group of arthritic changes in the joints.
