If you are looking for a summer holiday at a reasonable price and with more to offer than just the beach, Bulgaria is place for you.
Its Black Sea coast stretches from north to south with a variety of beaches, some family friendly, some famous for their parties and some absolutely isolated and wild.
Here’s our guide to the best beaches in Bulgaria:
Marina Dinevi
Marina Dinevi is a yacht harbor and а resort complex in St Vlas village. It is a destination for the rich and famous, with all kinds of luxury hotels, spa centers, and restaurants. The sandy beach has been granted a Blue Flag for its clean waters.
Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach is the summer party hub of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is popular with European tourists for the variety of night clubs it offers. There is plenty to do during the day as well. The sandy beach offers all kinds of water sports and beach bars with world class DJs performances.
Harmanite Beach, Sozopol
Another Blue Flag beach preferred by families with children as the water is calm and not very deep. With a lot of hotels and restaurants surrounding it, Harmanite Beach tends to get overcrowded in the high season.
Smokinya Beach
Located close to Sozopol, this beach is a favorite summer spot for people who love camping. Bring your own tent or hire a camper van at the beach. The water is calm and shallow and there are a couple of beach bars. Smokinya is popular with young people and families.
Pomorie Beach
One of the cleanest beaches on the Black Sea coast, Pomorie is frequented mostly by middle age holidaymakers so you can expect less noise and a smaller choice of bars and night clubs.
Sinemorets Veleka Beach
Sinemorets is a small village in the far south of the coast. Until recently it was a summer base for families who came here every holiday. However, in the recent years it has turned into a favorite spot of the young creatives from Sofia. So, a laidback and fresh atmosphere is what you can expect at its main beach Butamyata. A short walk away there’s another beach where Veleka River flows into the sea. This beach has no amenities and a part of it is nudist.
Kara Dere Beach
This is a wild beach with no amenities and no decent road to it. Head down the dirt track and pitch your own tent. This beach is a place of free souls, late night guitar playing, and no limits.
Bolata Beach
Located near the small town of Kavarna, Bolata is one of the most stunning beaches on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The beach, together with the Bolata Bay, is part of a nature reserve, so you might see different bird species.
Golden Sands Beach
Another Blue Flag beach, situated close to a nature reserve. Nevertheless, it feels more like a party zone as it is very popular with young people. As it is a bit further to the north than the other beaches the temperatures of the water are usually a bit lower than elsewhere.
