Interview with the photographer Tatiana Baikusheva from Bourgas about her new exhibition "Towers of Light".

At the beginning of the month was presented an interesting exhibition of selected photographs of lighthouses from the southern coast. The author of the exhibition is one woman from Bourgas - Tatiana Baikusheva. In the community Tatiana is known as PR and photographer with years of experience. She says she often deals with various projects, but shooting is her passion. In 1995, she graduated photography in the special school in Sofia and started her professional career as a photographer. Behind Tatiana already has four exhibitions, which presented the beauty of Bulgaria. The first photo exhibition "Towers of Light" she makes more than five years as never imagined that the photos could be the beginning of a collection exhibited in the special exhibition.

How was born the idea to shoot lighthouses?

Those exhibition I have not planned from the beginning. The pictures are actually born as a continuation of my previous idea to show beautiful places on the Black Sea. Then I shot the headlights of a paraglider, but it turned out that they are much more beautiful when photographed by sea or land, because the natural look to the lighthouse of the sea is different, better.

Then I decided to complement the collection to have them all lights on the South Black Sea. I photographed the headlights from Cape Emine to Ahtopol including several old towers that are no longer used, their illuminating part is removed and they are very attractive, such those one the end of Nessebar and Sozopol.

I understand that you are planning to do photos of headlights on the North Coast, too. When do you start working on this project?

I want to capture all seasons, I do not want to shoot only in summer. Generally they are more readily accessible during the summer, but I think that it will be more interesting to imagine headlights at all times of the year.

Do you have a similar passion and to other beautiful places in Bulgaria, such as waterfalls or mountains?

It’s not just a passion, but when we travel somewhere with my family we are ready to photograph. And always carry some cameras and sealing different landscapes. My husband in his professional work also deals with photography, so we are always prepared to make this. Fortunately we live in a country that is very beautiful and almost everywhere there is something for shooting.

Do you have a favorite photo or lighthouse?

Each of these places has its own interesting history. The headlights are very different from each other, their identity makes them recognizable even in the dark, which is mandatory for such a landmark. Each has its own charm and it's hard to mention just one, which is my favorite. I can point out some of the more interesting, these are the lighthouse near Pomorie and lighthouse on the island of "St. Ivan ", about it the sailors say - it is the most beautiful.

What is special about these buildings?

All these buildings are very smartly. Some of them are 130 years old, are designed by French architects and fit harmoniously into the local environment. The inside of the buildings is also interesting with good workmanship. Now it’s running the modernization of the marine equipment from a company that is very innovative. Now is replaced headlights illuminating part and other further reforms.

What does the lighthouse for you?

For me, the lighthouse is a symbol of hope, a beautiful object that is very romantic. In any part of the day to monitor the lamps are very beautiful. And do not forget the most important of their activities to orient people in the sea, I think that, despite the modern technology they can not be replaced.

Interesting facts about each lamp can be read in the series "Towers of Light", presented in the newspaper "Black Sea lighthouse /Chernomorski far/ ". The entire exhibition can be seen in the exhibition hall of Regional library "Peyo Yavorov", on "Bulair" Str. 10 to the end of November.
