Temple "St. George the Victorious" in Sozopol will welcome pilgrims and laymen with a new gilded dome. It is developed under the project of the artist Ivan Bahchevanov and weighs two tons of whole structure.
The new dome is composed of hundreds of gold flakes and is the only one in the country that resembles the domes of the church in Shipka village. The new dome was placed on the site of the old one by a crane, and finished activities are continuing.
Sozopol Church has the richest collection of Christian relics. There are the relics of St. John the Baptist found on the island of St. John, the relics of St. Andrew and St. Nicholas, and a piece of the True Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified.
