A helicopter dumped tons of water on the fire in the Turkish part of Strandja to extinguish it.
The fire was deliberately lit by workers from Forestry yard in Kurklareli and was a part of the demonstration in the fighting forest fires. It was presented infront of a delegation from the Regional Forest Directorate - Bourgas.
Two fires burning in the area Babatepe to Kurklareli were doused by including all available equipment - two small fires automobiles and three large, a grader and finally flew a helicopter from Istanbul.
From fire alarm to arrival on site is the normative 17 minutes, and in the risk forests - 14 minutes, explained Zekeriya Mere - Director of the Regional Directorate of Forestry - Istanbul.
