Burgasdream.com turned to Dr. Konteva on the occasion of her participation in the School of diabetes, which is held in Hospital Bourgas

"It is high time the patients not to abdicate their fundamental obligation to control their own health-prevention, treatment and subject to certain conditions and rules, because on one hand they are consumers, and the other in recent times dictate their way of treatment and choose what and how to treat, "said Dr. Konteva.

Leading cardiologist explain how diabetes affects cardiovascular diseases:

"The number one factor for cardiovascular disease along with smoking, obesity, lack of an active lifestyle has diabetes. Therefore it is the silent killer of the heart and vessels. We meet with patients when already built perifer severe atherosclerosis, coronary and cerebral arteries. Very often these patients manifested the disease first stroke or heart attack, which is absolutely unacceptable. More and more young people weigh the state and the nation with disability with inability to have adequate participants in social life.

The patient must realize that if not actively involved, we can not help him and to assume his responsibility.

Overall Bulgarians do not like going to the doctor. Prevention has always been the way. The patient thinks that there are no complaints, a health is meaningless."
