Dr. Rumen Mutavchiev, Head of Ophthalmology Department of the University Hospital of Bourgas and Dr. Nikolai Ivanov from "Eye Hospital" - Bourgas were speakers at the seminar
"Practical approaches in ophthalmology ". It was held over the weekend at the Medical University - Varna and brought together over 100 students and young specialists in Ophthalmology from Southeast and Northeast Bulgaria.
The objective is to combine the theory, studied at university, with the practical experience of established ophthalmologists.
The topic of Dr. Rumen Mutavchiev was related to the faco surgery - the newest method for cataract surgery (eye cataracts). The method is successfully applied in the Bourgas Hospital and is removing the curtain with ultrasonic energy.
The presentation of Dr. Nikolai Ivanov addressed the issue how to calculate artificial lenses - intraocular implants. They are placed in the eye during surgery to remove the cataract.
