Putin’s grandfather made pelmeni for Rasputin, Lenin and Stalin

While Russian president Vladimir Putin is one of the most influential men in the world in recent times, his grandfather was the most influential cook of all time.

In his life he’s cooked for Rasputin, Lenin and Stalin.

Grandfather Putin, a security officer, won Stalin’s heart with his Serbian pelmeni, vegetable soups and baked potatoes. The Russian dictator had four cooks, but Putin’s grandfather was his favorite. Unlike Stalin, who had specific tastes, Lenin and Nadezhda Krupskaya were unpretentious with their food and simply trusted Putin to prepare nutritious, healthy and tasty meals.
