Ambassador Mustafa met today with Minister of Justice Danail Kirilov and his deputies to discuss rule of law issues in advance of the U.S.-Bulgaria Strategic Dialogue on Wednesday.
The Ambassador was joined by Paul Vaky, Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe/Near East at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training.
Also in attendance was the U.S. Embassy’s new Resident Legal Advisor, Jessica Kim. Kim arrived last month to serve as the U.S. Department of Justice’s regional Resident Legal Advisor for Bulgaria and Romania, providing justice sector assistance to build capacity in combating public corruption, money laundering, and organized crime. The two sides agreed to develop a dialogue towards and share know -how on greater judicial independence and prosecutorial accountability.
